A key part of the Social Services and Well-being (Wales) Act 2014 is ensuring that people are asked what matters to them. When working with people, we must ensure every person has a strong voice when deciding what they need to achieve well-being. This approach is also about:

 

  • If people need support to make their voice heard, someone will speak on their behalf;
  • Assessments look at what someone can do, and what they can do with the help of friends and family, then arrange care and support for them to do what they can’t;
  • People have easy access to information and advice;
  • More services are available for people to get help when they need it, so problems don’t get worse.

 

To understand if our services are helping to deliver what matters to people across Cardiff and the Vale of Glamorgan and improve their well-being, we are collecting case studies and ‘citizen stories’. We would like to thank those who have agreed for their stories to be shared.
